In 1973, a local Dutch craftsman asked Jack Gesmundo to help him build a custom home. Together, they created a gorgeous, timeless result that would last a lifetime, while at the same time igniting Jack’s passion for intentional quality and specialized service. As he continued to learn and develop his craft, he learned that great homes could not only be beautifully crafted, but also energy efficient, saving homeowners money and valuable resources. When he launched Hawks Hollow Builders, he was among the first in the area to include energy performance as a critical consideration in luxury home design.
Beyond efficiency and quality, Jack brought creativity to every project. Solving difficult problems. Developing win-win solutions. and building homes that broke the mold of traditional home building. That approach quickly helped make Hawks Hollow the area’s most-sought-after Michigan custom home builder. It established Hawks Hollow as a company committed to building homes that are sustainable, that stand the test of time, and that truly fit their owner's lifestyle.
Hawks Hollow has grown steadily since its founding. Now, under the leadership of Sera Gesmundo, Jack’s daughter, it continues to build on its reputation for integrity and craftsmanship. Sera joined the company in 1989 while attending college. Her creative eye for detail and talented designs adds tremendous value to projects. She acquired her Builder’s License in 1999. She served on the board of directors for the Home Builder’s Association of Western Michigan for four years. In 2016, Sera received the Builder of the Year Award, recognizing hers and the Hawks Hollow team’s commitment to bringing quality home for Kalamazoo residents.
